Getter Beam!
The "beam projector" snaps onto the cavity in the torso. The cavity has a spring mechanism. I guess I prefer it like this compared to the old push button gimmick (easier to photograph :) ). The "beam projector" flicks off easily. :)

The Good
-Weighs roughly 440 Grams.
(Other weigh-ins)
--Aoshima Getter One - 500 Grams
--Gx-06 Getter One - 380 Grams
--Gx-51 Getter Dragon - 500 Grams

-Getter Machine Guns have moving parts.

-Hidden shoulder joints, just pull out the shoulders sideways like on the Gx-51 Getter Dragon. :)

-Diecast parts include
--Torso
--Shoulders and Biceps
--Legs (except feet)

-"Hidden" Mid torso joint
[image] [image]

-Different hands for Machine Gun and Tomahawk
[image]

-The accessory trays are no longer taped (this could be a good or bad thing depending on your point of view).

The Bad
-No more "disconnecting parts" like in the Gx-06, no more ba$t*rdized Getters.

-No Getter Eagle jet included

-No "flying pose" prop on the display stand (I was really looking forward to something like this after seeing the promo shots)

-The hip joints tend to pop out on mine, anyone else encounter this?

-Getter Wing smells bad. I usually like the PVC smell of new items (like opening up old Toybiz Marvel Legends and Aoshima Getter One cape) But the plastic on the Getter Wing smells like burnt rubber. I recommend opening it from the tray at a distance from your face (or at least down wind).

The Ugly
The Getter Wing! The attachment is somewhat tricky. It falls off with minimal effort. I wish they designed it to attach better. It fell off during the entire photoshoot more times than I cared to count. Very frustrating.

Overall, a great addition to the SOC line, I gotta say I'm loving the new innovative joint system. The real downside is that the line has shrunk. I just hope it doesn't come to the point that Bandai will start "thinning" the diecast layers (like on the Konami "diecast" Gurren Lagann) and later Chogokins become lighter and lighter as a cost cutting measure.

Getter Vs. Getter (from Real Robot Regimen and Super Robot Wars Impact, both from Playstation 2)

We never really got a Getter Vs. Getter showdown episode in Getter Robo G Anime, I think this was something from out of the Manga.

Synopsis: Hyakki Empire agents sneak into Saotome labs and steal the Getter G ships. Ryoma, Hayato and Benkei go after them with the older Getter Machines. The Getter team takes advantage of their opponents' time lag when changing form and win the day. :)

Parts extended.

The Good
-Lots of diecast(almost everthing except for the forearms and head)

-HEAVY!! I haven't been this impressed by the proportional weight of an SOC for quite a while. The toy when fully assembled weighs 500 Grams (1 pound!) It's 100Grams heavier than the Gx-18 Getter Dragon.

-Ratchet joints in the shoulders and knees.

-Optional extension for the shoulder pads to give a wider range of articulation for poses.

The Bad
-Box easily gets crushed (always hold it from the left side!!!!)

-no Getter Machine.

-No longer has the ability to disconnect (Unlike the GX18-20) so you can't make your own ba$t*rdized Getters.

-Getting the Tomahawk into the fists can be a chore, the hole is too tight so end needs to be forced into the fist (possible paint scraping?)

The Ugly
No real problems with the toy but the folded arms accessory did kind of feel under-detailed, the sculpt edges for the hands should have been mode defined IMHO. As is, the lack of detail makes it look like the hands have been "welded" into the arms.

Overall, despite the shrunken size (still not that bad, at least it hasn't shrunk to 3.75 Inches scale yet), a great toy, luckily they made it taller than Shin Mazinger so that's a step in the right direction. Plus the impressive weight is a great bonus. I think I would probably pick this over the Gx-18. I always felt that the Gx-18 Getter Dragon was too skinny. :)
